Communicating with Supporters

Explaining the "why" is a very important step for getting friends and family to support your fundraiser. Here's some sample ideas for how to gain their support. Make sure to make changes based on the details of your school and add personal touches.

Dear [insert name],

You might have heard that I’m fundraising to raise money for my school. Here's the cool thing, my school chose to do a Readola Book-a-thon, so we're raising money by reading great books! I'm asking for donations for each book I read, or per hour of reading.

I’m encouraged by the support I’ve already received, but I still need help reaching my fundraising goal of [insert dollar amount].

Would you be willing to make a contribution to my fundraiser? A gift of any amount would mean the world to me and keep me reading!

To donate, simply click the link to the Readola Donation Portal. 100% of all donations are returned to the school in books for our library/classroom. Please make sure to put [code number or name of school/city/state/zip] in the appropriate box.

If you'd like to keep track of my progress, feel free to check out my Reading Roadmap. [If applicable, insert Reading Roadmap link here.]

It would also mean a lot if you could share my fundraiser link on social media. The more exposure I get, the faster I will reach my fundraising goal.

I’d love to talk to you in person about my fundraiser, so please don’t hesitate to reach out.

With love/Sincerely,

[Your name]
